Bill Robbins, Founder of Convergent Management, Inc., is a business owner, professional advisor, writer, editor and published author.
With more than 30 years of experience in the corporate world (big pharma, consumer health care products), start-ups (biotech, medtech, devices), venture investing (life sciences, materials, tech) and small business (healthcare delivery, sales force management), Bill provides advice and counsel on matters of technology transfer, early-stage R&D, business formation and ownership, strategy, operations, business development, executive management, fundraising and corporate governance.
Bill began his traditional, buttoned-down, suit-and-tie career in New York, in 1983. Then, came business school and migration from Manhattan westward, across the Hudson River (some of you remember the famous "New Yorker" cover cartoon) to the glass-box-and-brick corporate hinterlands of New Jersey (it wasn't that bad; well, yeah, it was). One eye-opening (and, as it turns out, unauthorized) business trip to investigate some drug delivery technology at a start-up in the SF Bay Area was all it took to convince Bill that big is bad, small is good, and the smaller, the better. From '92 onward, it's been all start-ups for Bill, alas, continued interaction with the corporate world remains unavoidable (besides, that's where the money is).
Today, Bill shares his knowledge, expertise and advice on a fee basis (i.e., project or retainer) with scientists-entrepreneurs and business professionals seeking thoughtful and honest input. To contact Bill, just send an e-mail.
